Experiences of Technology Enhanced Learning: What Went Wrong?
نویسندگان
چکیده
The e-learning community is beginning to amass a great deal of experience of successful practice, but typically final project reports and associated papers concentrate only on the successful outcomes. There has been very little published on the innovations that failed or the unexpected and unwanted outcomes of such projects. This experiences paper presents four case studies of projects in which the the authors have been involved over the last 15 years. The contribution of this paper is to focus on the aspects of the projects that were not successful or were unwanted, analyzing the causes. The paper concludes by suggesting that most projects have both successful and unsuccessful components, and that the community would be better informed if they were more often provided with the complete picture.

Advancing AI Research and Applications by Learning from What Went Wrong and Why
Insight often begins with unexpected results. In this view, problems are signposts, not roadblocks, which guide us towards better solutions. Bugs, surprises, and anomalies also become powerful instructional tools that reveal assumptions, expose design flaws, and chart the boundaries of current technology. This perspective motivated our work on this special issue. When researchers publish succes...

متن کاملIntegrated Intelligence: RobotS Are Here to Stay
Nothing went "wrong," but new research questions came inevitably up. RobotS, in the plural and as physical artifacts to be present in our daily environments, offer a real challenge for AI: the effective integration of perception, cognition, and action in individual and multiple robots. In the talk, I will discuss concrete aspects of this "integrated intelligence," including world modeling and l...

The What Went Wrong and Why workshop is dedicated to the proposition that insight often begins with unexpected results, and that clarity often arrives in the response to surprises and apparent problems. For example, fogged film led Curie to discover radium; a failed culture let Fleming find penicillin; microwave noise let Penzias and Wilson verify the Big Bang. Bugs, glitches, and failures also...
